Describe your items in detail when you set up your auctions. Offering too much in your descriptions is always better - your buyers can decide what information they don't need to read, but make the information available to them. As you sell more and more of the same items, you can re-use your previous descriptions for new auctions, which can save you a lot of time.
Use popular keywords to get your auctions noticed. Take some time to figure out the most popular keywords for the item you are selling, and work those keywords into your auction titles and descriptions. This will get your auctions noticed faster by search engines and other websites. The more people who find your auctions, the more you will sell.
Work hard to keep your conversions up. You can have 100 different auctions running, but not a single one will sell if you don't know how to get bidders' attention. This will end up costing you more money and more time in the process, since you'll need to re-list the items, and tweak your techniques to gain bidders. Focus on doing it right the first time. It may take a couple times to find the best methods for getting more sales, but once you've figured it out, you won't have to worry about wasting money on trying to resell your auctions over and over again.
Once you find a proven system of selling that works, replicate it as often as you can. You will always have a few items that fall through the cracks and don't sell, and that's okay - don't worry about these auctions. Wasting your time trying to sell a few unsold items will take your attention away from the items that are selling. You won't sell everything all of the time, and just like with a brick-and-mortar store, you have to know when to drop an item that isn't performing, no matter how well you market it to consumers. Stick to what works, and your eBay home business will continue to grow.
